We have four Circuit Riders who each cover the entire state. Two positions are funded by USDA-Rural Development and two “State Circuit Riders” by MDE (Maryland Department of the Environment).
The primary objective of Circuit Rider program is for the Circuit Rider to work alongside the rural system officials and operators to show them how to solve their problems with drinking water treatment and water distribution systems. They are able to provide assistance in the following areas: operations, maintenance, treatment, compliance, construction, financial management, general management, security, loan and grant applications, and Board training.
They may assist on site in detecting leaks, restoration of damaged systems, and advising on water treatment issues.
